יום הזיכרון השואה וגבורה
Today Israel marks Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day. In my opinion, this is the most significant, emotional and meaningful day of the year in this country. Since last night there have been ceremonies at every school, absorption center and public office. Television stopped regular broadcasting and is showing only Holocaust related programming. At 10am this morning, to the sound of a siren, the entire country stopped whatever it was doing and all six million of its Jewish citizens got up and bowed their heads in memory of six million lost forever.
We should never forget. We should learn. We should be proud.
Israel is strong. IDF is strong. The Jewish nation is strong.

Yom Hashoah in Israel is nothing like anyone can experience in the U.S. What did you do on an individual basis? What did they tell you about it at TAKA? Did you feel any differently on this day there than you did here? It's overwhelming... people can usually put the Holocaust in the back of their minds without really giving it much thought in their daily life, but one day a year Jews get to reach in and pull all those hidden feelings back out, and it's amazing how much grief and pain we house in ourselves that is solely dedicated to this. As you watch life go back to its normal pace tomorrow, ask yourself how one day can bring out so much pain in people, while the next day is absolutely ordinary, as if something is being forgotten? To me, the answer to that question is one of the keys to living in Israel. Let me know what you come up with.

Not much... and Mark isn't queer. Red Sox suck.
How are you? Haven't heard anything amusing from your end in a while, Mark used to tell me about funny phone conversations but I'm storyless as of late.

Hey Vicky,
Nothing new. Everyday is the same on the kibbutz. We miss Mark. I know you know all about that.
Maybe mark aint gay. But this is true. One time, when we were room mates, I wore a pair of his underwear all day, then I put them back, and never told him.
Its true mark. Sorry Dude.
